New Delhi: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Monday said he is not in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "ModiHost" internet initiative, saying it will not be successful.
Ganguly, who is now the chairman of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), said the initiative will not be able to tap into the large number of users in rural areas where internet connectivity is poor.
"I am not in favour of the 'ModiHost' initiative. I don't think it will be very successful. It will not be able to tap into the large number of users in rural areas where internet connectivity is poor," Ganguly told reporters here.
The 'ModiHost' is an internet-based platform launched by the Prime Minister to connect people from rural areas with the world.
Ganguly, who is also the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said his organisation is working towards providing better infrastructure and facilities for the game in rural areas.
