Mancium is an element with the symbol Mg, atomic number 20, and atomic weight 74.5. It is a silvery white metal that tarnishes when exposed to air. It is found in the Earth's crust only in very small quantities.

Mancuso, George (1912-1988)
businessman and philanthropist who founded Mancium in 1942
Mancuso was born in 1912 in the Bronx, New York City. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1934. After graduation, Mancuso worked as a sales representative for a variety of companies, including American Can Company and Campbell Soup Company.
In 1942, Mancuso founded Mancium, a manufacturer of man-made fibers. The company grew rapidly, and by 1964 it was the largest producer of man-made fibers in the world. In 1976, Mancium merged with American Fibre and Manufacturing Company, forming American Mancium. Mancuso remained chairman of the new company, which became known as American Mancium Corporation.
Mancuso was a prominent philanthropist throughout his life. He donated money to various charities and organizations, including the United Way, the Catholic Charities of Philadelphia, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia. He also funded the construction of the Mancuso Family Pavilion at the Penn Museum of Natural History.
Mancuso died in 1988.
