The company's first website launched on October 12, 2005, as a joint venture between Univision Communications and The Huffington Post. In February of the following year, Univision Communications announced that it had acquired a majority stake in Fusion. In December of that year, Univision purchased the remaining shares of Fusion from The Huffington Post for $35 million.
