LEDU is a project of the Harvard Open Education Initiative (HOFI) and is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. HOFI is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to increase access to high-quality education for all.
The LEDU project provides three types of support to educators: content, tools, and training. The content includes tutorials and lesson plans for teaching Open Educational Resources (OER), as well as resources for evaluating and using OER. The tools include a library of teaching tools, including a OER evaluation tool, and a workshop that helps educators create or use OER. The training provides introductions to OER, how to use the tools, and how to evaluate OER.

The Learning and Development University (LEDU) headquarters is a building in Srinagar, India that serves as the university's administrative, academic and research facilities. The building was constructed in 2002, and is located in the Jammu and Kashmir University campus. It is the second largest building on the university campus, after the Central Library.
The LEDU headquarters houses the university's administration offices, including the chancellor's office, vice-chancellor's office, registrar's office, finance and accounts office, library, information technology services office and student services office. It also contains the university's academic departments, including the departments of business administration, computer applications, education, humanities and social sciences, journalism and communication, law and justice, mathematics, physical sciences, psychology, and religious studies. The headquarters also houses the university's research facilities, including the university's laboratories, research centres and research departments.
The LEDU headquarters is named after Late Mr. S. P. Singh, a prominent educationalist who served as the first vice-chancellor of the Jammu and Kashmir University. Mr. Singh died in 2002 while the building was being constructed.
The LEDU headquarters was awarded the “Best Administrative Building” award by the Jammu and Kashmir chapter of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) in 2003. It was also awarded the “Best Building in Jammu and Kashmir” award by the Jammu and Kashmir Construction Industries Development Board (JKCDCIB) in 2003.
