ARB Protocol (ARB) headquarters.
The ARB Protocol was a computer network protocol developed in the early 1980s at Xerox PARC for the ARPANET. It allowed for the transmission of packets across the network using the minimum amount of information possible.
The protocol was designed to reduce the number of packets that had to be transmitted in order to carry out a particular task. For example, if a user wanted to send a message to another user on the network, the protocol would allow the user to send just the recipient's address, without requiring the user to send information about the location of the recipient or the exact contents of the message.
The ARB Protocol was eventually replaced by the TCP/IP Protocol in the early 1990s.
